Random Video Game Review - Disney Speedstorm

Well, it was bound to happen eventually. Yes, you have probably heard many of us bang on about the sudden resurgence of go-kart games based on beloved franchises and the companies that those franchises belong to. This time around, it's Disney, who are actually no strangers to this genre. While the PC has never really had a Disney go-kart game be released on it till now, most have been made for consoles, such as Mickey's Speedway USA and Toy Story Racer. Even some of their old tie-in games have featured an element of racing in them. In all honesty, Disney's tie in games are, for many people, much better made and developed than other tie in games (well maybe except for the LEGO games, some DreamWorks games and some Harry Potter games), but let's see if this game is a worthy entry to the go-kart genre:

The game, at the time of typing this review up, is a free-to-play game, which usually means you can play it without ever having to spend any money. But it will contain a fair amount of things to buy which is for the most part, optional. Why is that a thing in a non-mobile or browser based game, I don't know. Should really only be those if it's a game where you have already paid the usual retail price of a video game. But anyway, back to the game itself. The character roster is as you would expect, a mix of popular and well known characters from across Disney and Pixar's large library of franchises, with minor characters being your crew members that can offer small bonuses to your stats and other things. Plays out almost exactly like Mario Kart with power drifting, power ups and tracks all based on Disney and Pixar properties. Each track's music is a remix of songs that are closely associated with the franchise that the track is based on. Some being better or worse than the original, but as we all know, you usually can't beat the original song. Various single and multiplayer modes are available with some of the single player modes, in particular, being limited time events that if you complete, award you with a racer and other things. Different types of races are a thing here too, which include traditional go-kart racing and a mode where you can only use a certain type of power up or has very limited rules and all that.

If it wasn't for the loot boxes and the online only thing, I would say that this is a solid racing game. But because those things are there, I will be rating it a bit low. Not too low though because this is a good racing game. It's not like the other ones I have played recently where it's the same developer, and it's just really a copy and paste the gameplay, but change the skin as it were. I guess if you really want that one Disney game that is like Mario Kart in almost every way, this would be the game. Apart from the two things I mentioned, the only other thing that really lets this game down for me, is that it doesn't feel all that user-friendly. Which I find puzzling because it's a Disney game. How can a Disney game be that complicated to follow.... oh wait there is Kingdom Hearts (lol). Anyway, this game's rating from me is a 7/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
