TV Season Review - Fallout (Season 1)

I won't go into detail once again on the whole thing of us now having several film and TV adaptations of video games. I've already talked about it enough to say that they are getting better, but still with the need for work. That said, I wasn't sure what I would be expecting from this show. Knowing how special the franchise is to a lot of people, it's definitely one that needs special attention and must be done right. That said, I felt reassured in knowing that some of the people behind the Westworld TV series, were making this as that show did well in not just giving us a new take on the original film, but made their take stand on its own and gave us a lot of thought-provoking things. That and those people know a great deal about video game mechanics, which is good. So here we are with this, which isn't based on any particular Fallout game as such. But instead tells us a new story set within that universe and is considered canon. So let's see how this one goes:

The show follows 3 major characters, all of which are survivors of a sort from the world that came before a nuclear explosion. The main one is a young vault dweller called Lucy MacLean (played by Ella Purnell) who, following an attack within her vault, sets out to find and rescue her father (played by Kyle MacLachlan), also her vault's overseer, while figuring out the world she finds herself in. The secondary one I guess is Maximus (played by Aaron Moten), a squire of the Brotherhood of Steel who is often bullied and wants to rise up in the ranks to prove that he isn't a waste of space. And the third and final character is a ghoul who was once known as Cooper Howard (played by Walton Goggins), a former Hollywood actor and Vault-Tec ambassador who makes a living as a deadly bounty hunter.

Having seen Westworld and played Fallout 4, New Vegas and Shelter (at time of review), the show does well in giving us something that Fallout fans will love. It stays true to the franchise, gives us lots to think about, and I'm glad that Bethesda went for this take over other takes that were clearly, in their eyes, inferior. Unlike Westworld which was a bit too on the serious side (but with good reason), this show is a little more light-hearted, but not without thought-provoking moments and scenes that play out almost exactly like the games. All the references are there as are the music and the famous lines and should they continue onwards, I look forward to seeing where this goes and if war will ever change. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
