So today I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 3D today with some mates. Here's my review of it:
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!
I noticed that with Disney's opening sequence that they put a pirates flag rather that their usual flag which looks quite good. So we see that Captain Jack Sparrow is up to his usual tricks and manages to rescue Mr. Gibbs from a death sentence and then goes to meet the King of England (the actor by the way is the guy who does Uncle Vernon in Harry Potter) as well as his old foe Captain or should I say Privateer Barbossa. Jack then escapes the palace and heads for a pub where his Dad is waiting for him. He explains about the Fountain of Youth and then Jack confronts an impostor who believe it or not is Jack's love interest Angelica who then has Jack and some people from the pub on a ship known as the Queen Anne's Revenge which is home to Captain Blackbeard, the pirate whom all pirates fear and has the power to zombiefy a living being and can control a ship by using his sword. He also wants to get to the fountain of youth but needs Jack's help to find the pieces needed for enter (a mermaid, a mermaid's tear, a believer of God and the 2 chalices of Cartagena). They arrive at White Cap Bay to catch a mermaid which Philip (the God believer) shares a love interest with and calls her Syrena. They then head to the island where the Fountain of Youth is and Jack (with help from Barbossa) finds the two chalices and then returns the Blackbeard and the others so that they can enter the Fountain which they do. Barbossa and the Spanish arrive and destroy Blackbeard and the Fountain with a little help from Jack. Syrena and Philip then head for the waters to spend the rest of their days in, Angelica is dumped onto an island, Barbossa claims Queen Anne's Revenge as his ship with Blackbeard's crew and Jack and Gibbs (with the Black Pearl in a bottle) go somewhere to try and release the Pearl from the bottle which has Jack the monkey and Cotton's Parrot in miniature form which as Jack puts it "more annoying than in true form).
My opinion on this film. the funniest one I've seen so far but is only a slight less complicated than the previous ones. Good to see Captain Jack in full steam again though. 8/10
