Views on E3 2011

For those of you who don't know, E3 is pretty much a big gaming expo thats held once a year in LA for only the press to go. Its the big gaming event of the year which tells the world what the big gaming and gaming hardware companies have planned for the coming months and next year. For those of you who have heard about, I won't be talking about Microsoft because although I have a computer, I don't use it for gaming as such (maybe the occasional games but not all the time) and I don't have a Xbox 360 or Windows Phone either. So I'll only be talking about Sony and Nintendo because I have a 3DS, Wii and PS3. Here we go:

This year, Nintendo showed us some upcoming games planned for the Wii and the 3DS which included the new Zelda and Kirby Wii games, Kid Icarus Uprising for 3DS and Super Mario 3D, Lugi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario 3D and Mario Kart 3D. As well as a few others as well. But thats only the beggining. Nintendo also gave us a peek at thier new console called WiiU which will feature a brand new and unique and innovative controller which has all sorts of features built in. The console will also have the most up-to-date HD quality graphics and its been announced that a new Zelda, New Super Mario Bros, LEGO and Smash Bros games are in the works for it and the upcoming Batman and Assassin's Creed games will be made for it as well. In my opinion, Nintendo did a good job this year with finally announcing thier new console and giving us a peek into the future.

For Sony, they apologised about the hack that happened earlier in the year and gave us a look at some of thier games in action including Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Resistance 3, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and God of War Origins Collection (which has the first 2 major games in the series). They also revealed a affordable 3D TV made specifically for the PS3's 3D capabilites and a peek at PSP's sucessor, the PSVita which will feature HD on the move and some great other features as well including 3G capabilities.

Overall, I felt that Nintendo won this year because thier new console was being rumored for a matter of months and had several codenames for it while Sony's next console was already announced but had a different name to what its called now. The games for both Nintendo and Sony are looking to be great games. I did hear that Microsoft didn't announce anything big this year other than games for the 360 and PC. Plus a bunch of other games were announced as well including Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Batman: Arkham City and many others.
