OK so maybe this wasn't the review you all weren't hoping for but like I said, this was going to be a surprise one and I wasn't sure what I'd be seeing at the time anyway. I should also mention that I have nothing against Taylor Lautner even though he was the preferred boy from the girls point of view in the Twilight films but hey. Right let's get this review over and done with:
SPOILERS!!!
So we see this guy called Nathan Harper who is laying on the front of a car of some sort with his two friends, Jake and Gilly. They arrive at a girl's party where Gilly decides to sell some fake IDs and Nate decides to watch a girl that he has a crush on but its interrupted by her boyfriend at the time. The party is over the following morning and Nate wakes up with a hangover and with no shirt on (a point when the girls can cheer). Nate gets picked up by his dad who then helps him train up to fight whoever decides to fight him. His mum then stops the fight, knowing that its getting out of hand and we then cut to them having dinner. The next day Nate sees his friends at school and makes an attempt to talk to Karen (the girl that Nate has a crush on) but fails. An assignment is then given to the class and Nate and Karen then get put together as partners. Karen arrives at Nate's place (Nate decides to get himself and his room sorted beforehand) and they begin their work on missing children. Upon the missing children, Nate discovers that he's one of them and decides to go over to Karen's to talk to her about it (she dumps her boyfriend afterwards). Nate returns to his house and heads for his room. His mum comes in and finds out that Nate knows about it and goes to get his dad. Nate calls Karen to come to his but using the backdoor instead of the front. Some agents of some sort arrive and kill Nate's mum and dad and plant a bomb in the house which then blows up. Nate and Karen then head for the hospital for Karen's wounds to be healed and Nate calls the emergency services about the blown up house but is then refereed to the CIA who tell him only a small amount of detail about him being a missing child. Nate then comes across his psychiatrist, Dr. Geraldine Bennett who tells him to put on a hoodie and follow her to her car (picking up Karen along the way). They escape the hospital and Nate and Karen then escape Geraldine's car (which she instructs them to do) and head into the forest to hide. As it turns out, there is a group of terrorists who want a list which Nate has and the CIA also want him for protection from the terrorists. Nate and Karen then try to find out what they can about Nate's true parents and head for an apartment in Virgina which Nate suspects that his parents are there but as it turns out, they're not. Nate and Karen then head to a cemetery where Nate's real mother's grave is and discover that the flowers on it are fresh and head to a hotel to find out who put them there. They then meet with Gilly somewhere who gives them fake IDs and warns them of any more activity from the terrorists and the CIA. Karen and Nate (unaware of one of the terrorists behind them) get on a train, commit their love for each other and go into a snogging sequence which only goes up to Nate taking his hoodie off and no where further. Karen the goes to get some food and is then attacked by the terrorist and is then held hostage. The terrorist then goes to Nate's room on the train to confront Nate which then goes into a big fight where flashbacks of Nate's training to fight are revealed which help Nate take down the terrorist and he succeeds and chucks the terrorist off the train. The train is then stopped and Nate and Karen then escape the train but are then caught by the CIA who persuade them to stop running and hear them out. The chief of the operation, Frank Burton then has a 1-1 with Nate and explains all that Nate needs to know. Nate suspects that Frank is also on the list and then the CIA are attacked by the terrorists which then Karen and Nate escape using a nearby car and head to a stadium. The man in charge of the terrorists, Viktor Kozlow calls him and says that he wants to meet him somewhere but will kill everyone that Nate knows (which as he describes, his friends, his family, his annoying teachers, all his friends on Facebook and Karen) if Nate refuses. Nate agrees to meet with him but under his terms and not Viktor's. Viktor accepts Nate's requests and then goes to meet him at the stadium. Nate and Karen meet up with Gilly again who gives them tickets to "The Big Game" at the stadium. Nate and Karen then go undercover and put one of the tickets near a statue which Viktor then picks up and then sits with Nate in the stadium unaware of Nate's real father and the rest of the CIA also arriving at the stadium. Nate then attempts to bring out a gun that he acquired at the apartment but listens to what Viktor has to say about his mother's death (as it turns out, Viktor was the one that killed Nate's mother but had no intention to). Nate attempts to pull out the gun again but Viktor gets the gun first and Nate runs away from him andViktor out of the stadium. Nate does exactly that and his real father then kills Viktor while the rest of the CIA kill the remaining terrorists. Frank then gives all the information to the chief of the CIA but the chief then relieves him of duty after knowing that Frank is on the list and would make sure that he gets his name off it but fails. The chief apologises to Nate of what has happened and gives Nate his phone back so that Nate can talk to his real father. His father tells him that he won't ever be his dad because he had that chance a long time ago and screwed up but wished him well on his future. Karen and Geraldine then see Nate and Geraldine offers Nate a chance to live with her which Nate accepts. The film then ends with another snog from Nate and Karen.
This film isn't the best film I've seen in a while. Most of it was very predictable and the story was bland in some way. I personally wouldn't recommend watching this film even if its because Taylor is in it. 4/10
