Sarah Jane Adventures Review: The Man Who Never Was (S5, E5 and E6) (Series Finale)

So we've now come to the last and final Sarah Jane Adventure. While it was short lived (for obvious reasons) it's a good way to leave the show on a high. Let's get on with it:

SPOILERS!!!!

So a cleaner who works for this company called Serf Systems watches a ad for the company's newest creation, The Surf Board which presumably is a computer. The cleaner then heads to the lift as is then abducted by a being with a mask on. Back at Sarah Jane's house, the gang prepare for Luke's return from Uni. Sky feels a bit nervous about it but the gang reassure her that it will be fine. Luke then arrives and gets a hug from Sarah Jane and calls Clyde and Rani, Clani (which in some way is like Bradgelina and Jedward). Luke goes to his room and discovers that Sky is the owner of it now. Luke then goes on explaining why K9 isn't with him and Mr. Smith couldn't be any happier. Rani then jokes with Mr. Smith telling him that he could be replaced by the new Serf Board. This then has Sarah Jane remembering that she was among 3 of the country's top journalists to be invited to a press conference about the Serf Board and decides to take Sky and Luke with her leaving Clani with Mr. Smith. Upon arriving, they meet Lionel Carson (Sarah Jane's old work colleague) who has a dislike in computers. As they enter the meeting room (upon given instructions by public relations), they then meet the man in charge of Serf Systems, Joseph Serf. During his speech, Sky notices a glitch and upon returning home, asks Mr. Smith to Analise the recording for the others to see. Sarah Jane then books an appt with Mr. Serf and then goes to see him. Luke and Sky also come along and investigate a hidden basement under the HQ of Serf Systems. They then stumble into a gang of aliens who somehow are controlling Mr. Serf's every movement. Sarah Jane then attempts to touch Mr. Serf and discovers that he's a hologram but being controlled by alien technology. The aliens then spot Luke and Sky and tell them to run. Security then captures the trio and destroys their phones so that Mr. Smith and Clani can't get hold of them. Public Relations (who is revealed as the controller of the aliens and also called Harrison) has Luke and Sky go into one cell with Sarah Jane in the other with the cleaner (after showing how truly cruel he is). Sky then asks Luke to blow his dog whistle as an attempt to relay a message through Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith receives the message (after Clani have a careful play with the Serf Board and come to the conclusion that it's rubbish) which reads "Clani get Harrison's pen". Clani then get in their formal gowns and have Mr. Smith make fake IDs for them (making the real guests stuck in an airport) and then attend the Launch of the Serf Board in an attempt to stop Harrison. Sarah Jane, the cleaner, Luke and Sky then escape their cells and help the aliens get out. Clyde manages to get Harrison's pen which is the alien's cue to leave the basement and head to the roof for their pick up from their species (supplied by Mr. Smith). To make sure everything runs smoothly, Luke and Sky use Mr. Serf's controls to control him in the meeting room and use the Hypno function to hypnotise the guests and get them to get Harrison's pen and destroy it which they do. The pick up arrives and takes the aliens and somehow Harrison out of Earth and into space. The episode then ends with Clani, Sarah Jane, Luke and Sky being a family and a montage of clips from previous episodes and ending with the words "It will go on... ...forever".

Personally I thought this was a great way to end a great show with humor and fun all the way. It's a shame that Sky's time was short lived but it probably will continue through the books. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2
