So after 10 long years, Daniel Radcliffe has moved on from Harry Potter to work on other projects. Now many of you might think that this is the first non-Harry Potter film starring Daniel Radcliffe, its not. Dan also did December Boys and a few stage shows before this (I'm serious, read him up on Wikipedia if you don't believe me). So if you thought Paranormal Activity was scary, you haven't seen nothing yet. Read On:
SPOILERS!!!!
So the film starts of with three little girls playing with their toys and then for some strange reason, jump out of a window (nice, we're already a few minutes into the film and already someone has died). In London, Arther Kipps (played by Radcliffe), says goodbye to his son and maid as he heads for work. His son gives him a book of pictures as he gets onto his train. On the train, he meets Sam Daily who kindly gives Arther a lift to his accommodation and he's given the attic to stay in. The following day, he pays a visit to one of his clients but his client refuses his demands. So Arther then goes to a house on an island where he hears noises and footsteps. As he peers at one of the windows, he sees a woman in black, but as he turns away she disappears. Arther then returns to shore (when his driver eventually shows up) and speaks to the police about the house, he then comes across a girl who looks kinda bad (in a illness sort of way) and she suddenly dies. Sam then offers his services to Arther by giving him free accommodation and a chance to meet the family. He then returns to the house again (with Sam's dog) to continue his investigation. As the night draws on, he learns more about the woman and also encounters her in a series of scary moments that would in theory, give people heart attacks or some similar thing while watching this film. Sam later on, returns to pick up Arther and his dog. The three of them return to the village only to find a house on fire. As Arther enters the house, he soon realises that the woman possesses children to have them die for no reason. With help from Sam, Arther then gets the woman's deceased son from the mud and prepares a ritual sort of thing to allow the mother and child to find themselves and all works well. The child is then buried with its mother. Upon their return, Sam and Arther meet Arther's son before he too gets possessed by the woman which then causes both Arther and his son to die but at the same time, reunite themselves with Arther's wife and his son's mother. The film then ends with the woman staring at the audience in a scary sort of way.
Overall, of all the horror films that I have seen (which surprisingly isn't that many), this is by far the scariest. Its a great film, but only those who don't have heart problems will surivive it so be prepared. 9/10
