Video Game Series Review: Jak and Daxter

From the creators of the critically acclaimed Uncharted series comes this franchise that has had a good run on the PS2. The Jak and Daxter series has had some pretty darn good games that involve platforming, puzzle solving, and third person shooting. It may look like a children's game, but when you play it, based on the humour in it, you'll then know that its not. Anyway, on with the review:

Note: You can get all three games for the PS3 either by purchasing The Jak and Daxter trilogy or by buying them via the PS Store.

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
So taking place in some fantasy island somewhere, Jak and Daxter explore this island but are attacked by the Lurkers (the main enemies) causing Daxter to turn into a ottsel (which is a combination of an otter and a weasel). They then see Samos (their guardian), who tells them that they should seek Gol Acheron who has the power to bring Daxter back to his regular form. And for most of the game, its doing side quests and finding objects that can get Jak and Daxter one step closer to their goal. (SPOILERS: As you probably guess, Daxter finds the source of energy needed to change him back, but in the end, let's Jak use it instead). This game is definitely worth buying if you need something fun and enjoyable (if not funny) to pass the time. 9/10

Jak II
Jak and Daxter return in this adventure that takes place directly after the first game. They travel with Samos and Jak's love interest Keria through a portal to a place that is best known as Haven City. While Samos and Keria went missing upon arrival, Jak is then captured by the Praxis Krimson Guard and is subdue to tests on the dark Eco from the last game. In a desperate attempt to free him, Daxter frees Jak 2 years later, who has now gained the ability to speak and they then join an underground rebellion happening in the city to overthrough the person in command. The rest of the game has more stuff to enjoy than the last game, but with more things to do as well as going through the story. It's better than the last game with more fun to be had. 9/10

Jak 3:
Taking place soon after the events of the last game, Jak and Daxter continue their work with the underground rebels before being thrown out (along with Pecker whom they meet in the last game). As they start to lose consciousness, they are then saved and taken to Spargus City where the king asks Jak to be at his side as a favour for saving his life. The rest of the game sees the duo continuing to take down the metal heads from the last game. Gameplay is similar to that of the last game, but uses various enhancements to make it different such as cheats and the environment. However you may see it, it continues to get better and better throughout so that's a 9/10.

Overall, the Jak and Daxter games are very fun and enjoyable and anyone who likes platformers should get these games because they will laugh and enjoy it. 9/10
