Video Game Series Review: Rayman

So I've already done Origins so it only seems fair that I do the others. I'm only doing the main series as Rayman technically isn't part of the Rabbids franchise anymore and I haven't played the spin offs yet so for now, its just the main series (1-3). So let's get to it:

Rayman
The first game in the series was also the first 2D platformer in the series as well. In the game, Rayman has to find and defeat the main antagonist of the game, Mr. Dark, who has captured The Great Protoon and causes Rayman's world to collapse. Its up to Rayman to stop him. This back in the day was something great and even today, its still a masterpiece as it was then. 9/10

Rayman 2: The Great Escape
This takes place sometime after the events of the first game and is the first game in the series to show 3D graphical designs and unlike the other games, it features a more serious and darker tone. Rayman is captured by a group of Robotic Pirates, led by the main antagonist, Captain Razorbeard, who plans to destroy the heart of the world in the Glade of Dreams. Thanks to Globox's efforts, Rayman and him escape the ship, only to be separated. Now its up to Rayman to save his friends and the Glade of Dreams. The thing I like about this game is that its a massive step up from the first game and is more darker than the other games which in some way, works well. What I don't like, is UbiSoft trying to port this game to every single console, just to take advantage of the new features of the console. Otherwise, its still a very enjoyable game. 9/10

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
In the third game in the main series, Rayman's world is attacked by an army of Black Lums led by André (the main antagonist and the only lum to have hands), who plans to take over the world. Rayman and Globox then go to stop him, only for him to be swallowed up by Globox and then let out. This game has some minor changes to that of the last game. Its still got a dark tone, but is more humorous than the last game. Rayman can use his regular powers and can now use special cans that give him temporary enhancements for him to progress on in the levels. Great game for any fan of the franchise. 9/10

So overall, despite the Rabbids, the Rayman franchise is still one of the best franchises out there with plenty to show. 9/10
