Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony Review

Now because I did a review of the opening ceremony, seems only fair that I do one for the closing ceremony. Is it better than the Opening or not? Let's find out:

Segment 1:
So the first segment had modelled versions of some very famous London landmarks such as 10 Downing Street and Big Ben, all covered in newspaper, signifying a regular day in London (which was preceded by fireworks). Timothy Spall (who many people will know as Wormtail in the Harry Potter films. Quite a big actor in the UK in terms of the work he does) then appears, reprising his role as Winston Churchill from "The King's Speech" and saying what sounds like the Shakespeare speech from the Opening Ceremony (might be slightly different than before, but otherwise OK). Prince Harry, a representative of the Queen, then arrives with IOC President Jacques Rogge. It's off to a good start, me thinks. 9/10

Segment 2:
For the majority of the next segment, various well known music acts, appeared in turn which included the likes of Pet Shop Boys, One Direction, Taio Cruz, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Queen (what's left of them at least) and numerous others, with a small adaptation of an iconic scene from "Only Fools and Horses". This also shows what we Brits do during the Queen's jubilee celebrations and also shows the rush hour of London. Still looking good so far. 9/10

As most of it was music of most of the British artists and bands, the rest of the ceremony was music followed by some thank yous and presentations from the IOC President and Lord Coe, the head of the London 2012 bid. As with tradition, we then see the mayor of London, Boris Johnson pass the flag to the IOC President and then to the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, followed by a preview of what to expect in the Rio Olympic Games (in 2016).

My personal opinion of this ceremony is that it's nowhere near as good as the opening as the opening had more of a variety to it, while this one is based mostly on the music of Britain with some little skits here and there. Despite that however, it was a good and satisfactory end to the games. 9/10

(and before anyone asks, yes I will be going over the opening and closing ceremonies of the Paralympics as well)
