Doctor Who Review: A Town Called Mercy (S7, E3)

In the past, many attempts were made to combine the western and sci-fi genres together and have failed. Considering that Doctor Who has been a success from both the classic and reboot shows, I expect nothing more than another great episode. Will a western theme work for Doctor Who? Let's find out in my review:

The Doctor, Amy and Rory travel to a town called Mercy set in the American frontier/wild west. Upon their arrival, they encounter a cyborg called the Gunslinger, who has cut off the town from the rest of the world until they give up an associate of his, the alien doctor Kahler-Jex who was responsible for the creation of the Gunslinger in an attempt to save his own people, which forces the Doctor to make a very difficult decision.

Overall, I found the episode to not be that bad. It shows a darker and more intense tone to The Doctor and comparing this to other western and sci-fi crossovers, this actually turned out well. It's not the greatest of these crossovers that I have seen, but it's decent enough to be great. 8/10
