Review of the Week

So after another week of some very weird weather, here's what's been happening:

Futurama News - Planet Express Shuts Down For The Last Time
Comedy Central whom from 2010 were Futurama's main broadcaster for a while (in America anyway), have announced this week that Futurama will not be renewed for another season and as such, will cause the show's current season to presumably be the last. This isn't really shocking news as such, because the show was cancelled for a while after it's 4th season before returning for 4 direct to DVD feature length adventures (later to be known as season 5) and a few years later, a brand new series. But it looks like it may be cancelled for the last time. Both the creator Matt Groening and the voice of Bender John DiMaggio have expressed an interest in continuing to make the show as everyone doesn't want to stop. Now if Futurama does get cancelled for good, will The Simpsons (which by the way, isn't as funny as it used to be) go the same way? Let's hope not, but let's be clear that fans of the show will not stand for this at all, myself included.

Xbox News - The Next Generation Reveal Event
Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that they will be holding an event on May 21 2013 which has been rumoured and confirmed to be the reveal of their next console which most people are dubbing the Xbox 720. While many have speculated that the next console will be similar to the PS4, others believe that Microsoft may be out of the competition with both Nintendo and Sony well ahead of them with one 8th gen console out and another on the way. What is known about this event is that Microsoft need to desperately up their game if their console want to be superior to their competitors. Regrading games, Ubisoft have already said that their next AC game will be out for all 8th generation home consoles as well as their 7th generation predecessors, but for any other game, it is unknown. My thoughts on this is that this event is happening weeks before E3 and with Nintendo and Sony doing stuff already, many people are just thinking, what is the point of it. Well we'll see.

Other news this week includes Zach Snyder being top choice for the upcoming Justice League film but also mentions that Man of Steel will be very different to Nolan's Batman films, Nintendo falling in sales again, J.J Abrams now ready to talk about next Star Wars film, PS4 developers reveal more about what went into the Dualshock 4 controller and a whole bunch of GTA5 trailers coming next week (all information about these can be found on both Wikipedia and official sources like PlayStation Blog, YouTube and others)
