Review of the Week

Its been an OK week for the most part, apart from constant weather shifting which as a Brit, I don't particularly like at all. Anyway, here's what's been happening this week:

Nintendo News - Announcements, Lack of Games and Money Schemes for Let's Play videos
So Nintendo have done a number of things this week to both please us and disappoint us. We now know that the much anticipated Pikmin 3 will be out in July for Europe and Japan (August for North America) and looks to be the biggest game in the series so far, Game & Wario the next game in the WarioWare series will be out in June for Europe and North America (already out in Japan) and looks to be just as fun as before, the upcoming DLC for NSMBU entitled Super Luigi U will be out as DLC for the game and will also have a limited retail release and will be released in June for Nintendo eShop and then retail for Europe in July and North America in August (all roughly towards the end of each month) and finally The Wonderful 101 will be out in August for Europe and September for North America, all on Wii U and all released this year. In additional news, Nintendo have decided to form a partnership with SEGA on their Sonic the Hedgehog franchise (will I'll talk more abut below) and while the Wii U does still lack games for it, it looks like Nintendo are doing well to get as many games out for it as possible this year, even without EA's help (and to be honest, I don't think anybody cares what EA brings out, unless its something from BioWare and something that's not any of their sports games or Battlefield), but then we have some bad news. Nintendo have decided this week that any Let's Play video of their first party games will have the money given to them rather than the uploader, which doesn't block them entirely and it doesn't affect any of their very old games, but it could make a lot of YouTubers to stop making those videos. So overall, Nintendo are still struggling (especially as E3 is just around the corner and they have various shows planned for it), but are as a well known Mass Effect character would say, holding the line.

SEGA News - A Sonic game gets trademarked
Following Nintendo's partnership deal with SEGA, they have announced that the next Sonic game, called Sonic: Lost World has been trademarked by them, will be a Wii U exclusive and will be shown at E3 this year. In related news, SEGA and Nintendo have announced the next Mario & Sonic game which as with before, will arrive on Nintendo platforms and will be based around the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics (expect it to arrive later this year). Its good to know that despite the vast number of bad Sonic games, the hedgehog himself is still standing as strong as ever.

Angry Birds News - A 3D animated feature film adaptation in the works and App Updates
Its been quite a few years since the first game was launched and now it looks like it will get itself a feature length, 3D animated movie by Sony Pictures Animation which will be due for a release in 2016. Nothing about the plot, cast and crew have been confirmed yet, but I just hope that it doesn't go the same way as other video game films go (but considering what Wreck-It Ralph gave us, it isn't a big deal as such). Additionally, Angry Birds Seasons gets an update which brings in some new levels all related to circus stuff and the new gameplay mechanic known as portals. And with a sequel to Rio coming out soon, Angry Birds Rio may continue to live on, but we'll see.

Harry Potter News - Theme Park in Orlando, Florida to expand to greater lengths
It comes to no surprise to many of us that this theme park will be a great place to visit (even though we Brits have the real deal here, but anyway). This week, it was revealed that the park will get an expansion for the London/Diagon Alley area and it will at some stage have the Hogwarts Express as well. Regarding crowd control, the theme park managers are finding ways to help with crowd control during the busy periods of the year and where each of some of the new shows including a Gringotts one, will be shown. Its good news for some of us who want to experience the world of Harry Potter, by why not just come here to Britain where you can see the real deal. Its up to you, but for me, I prefer the real deal here in the UK

Star Wars/Doctor Who News - Battle of the Nerds in a convention at Norwich, UK
I don't even know why so many news reporters have this. Its nothing new at all. Nerds fight all the time, claiming that one thing is better than the other, but as a fan of both franchises, I don't particularly care which is better. They are both good in their own way and as long as I'm entertained, I'm happy. So what's this story about? Well it seems that at some convention or club in Norwich, Doctor Who fans battle against Star Wars fans which goes on for far too long, that the police get involved with this whole thing. I won't say no more because it's nothing new, and that's it.

I've covered a lot of things this week, so no short recap this time I'm afraid. Let's see what films and video games are released this week:
