Movie Series Review - Get Smart (2008 revival)

So with there not being that many films for me to review right now (and don't worry, I am working on a few at the moment), I thought to just do some more reviews of random films. Today we have a film based on a 1960s spy parody TV series of the same name with an all-star cast and all things spy related as it were. As there are 2 films in this series (I know there are 2 others, but I'll probably do those another time) along with some competition with the likes of Johnny English and a few others, is this worth your time if you had all the time in the world? Let's find out:

Get Smart
So after seeing possibly the 1 billionth Warner Bros and Village Roadshow logo intro with some resemblance to the film at hand, we come to the film's main protagonist, Maxwell "Max" Smart (played by Steve Carell) who is an analyst for the top secret organisation known as CONTROL. He dreams of becoming a field agent like his idol, Agent 23 (played by Dwayne Johnson) and despite getting good results in the field tests, is denied promotion of field agent because of the Chief (played by Alan Arkin) thinking that his present assignment is in need of his analyst skills. However, that may all change when the HQ gets attacked by the terrorist organisation known as KAOS, led by Siegfried (played by Tereance Stamp), the film's secondary antagonist, which causes almost all of CONTROL's identities to be exposed, leaving only Max and Agent 99 (played by Anne Hathaway) able to pursue the enemy while everyone else is demoted to desk jobs. And let's just say their partnership doesn't start off well, but that may all change during the film. Now when I first went to see this film, I wasn't sure what to expect, especially as me and the people I went with (which were my cousins and grandfather at the time) didn't know anything about the film's source material and to this day, I still don't know the source material, which may annoy some of you, so this review is based purely on the film itself and honestly, its not that bad of a film. It has possibly every single element of a spy film going wrong and it does its best to entertain us and I will say that it is a funny film and I like the fact that it doesn't push all the jokes too far which most comedy films tend to do, but this one doesn't. The characters are your stereotypical characters (self explanatory) which isn't a bad thing as such, and I enjoyed watching it. 8/10

Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control
So taking place during the events of the main film, Bruce and Lloyd (played by Masi Oka and Nate Torrence respectively) are testing out an invisibility cloak, but lose it to an agent of KAOS and must now retrieve it. But there is a problem. With the only 2 non-compromised agents in Russia (Max and Agent 99), Bruce and Lloyd are on their own and with them being very inexperienced in field work, you can probably guess what happens. I honestly didn't think much of this film. It's not really that funny and it follows a very overused story where there are some nerds that want to prove themselves in the field and both want a girlfriend. You can get the idea from there. 7/10

Overall, the main film will remain the superior one and whether or not we see more of these films, that's all down to the fans, if there are any out there, of course. But for me, I liked what I saw and we can leave it at that. 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
