Well its the week of Gamescom. An event that's similar to E3, but based in Germany and not very video game developer goes to it. So let's see what's been happening there as well as other things that have been happening this week:
Sony News - What happened at Gamescom
So much like with E3, Sony's press conference was the biggest and best of the bunch. It showed off a lot of things about the PS4 including the console's dashboard, various games that will be coming to it (both already announced and some unannounced titles as well) including Minecraft and a bunch of Indie games and the most important thing of it all, a release date for the console which will be released in North America and Europe on November 15th and 29th respectively, this year. Additionally, the PS3 and Vita will be getting a price drop to roughly $199 and the same price in Euros, a LittleBigPlanet hub will be coming to PS3 free of charge, Gran Turismo and Watch_Dogs are getting their own movies (probably will not be that great), the Dualshock 4 controller will be coming in 3 colours and a whole load of Indie games will be coming to all 3 PlayStation consoles as well. All that, plus a whole load of other stuff as well. So what did Microsoft do? They once again screwed up by not streaming their press conference and failed to give us a release date for Xbox One and it is getting pretty late so you better hurry up or expect Sony to kick your ass yet again.
And as I can't find anything else to talk about in depth (which I know I've done quite a bit of recently so I do apologise), here's a round up of the other news this week. SEGA forms an alliance with various developers to create some kind of community with Capcom and Taito (part of Square Enix) rumoured to be involved with it, Platinum explains that the Wonderful 101 (review coming soon by the way) was originally a Nintendo all star game, LEGO Marvel Superheroes gives us another trailer with a first look of Glactius as well as some other story related stuff, LEGO The Movie has a video game in the works by TT Games (might be good, you never know) and Steven Moffat (currently the executive producer of Doctor Who) is well aware of the Doctor's regeneration limit (it may change, you never know).
That's it, so let's have a look at this week's film and video game releases:
Films:
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Released in most countries with more to follow)
Scenic Route (USA only. No plans for other countries)
Short Term 12 (USA and Italy only with plans for other countries to follow, but not everywhere)
