Doctor Who Review - The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)

So after waiting for a good few years after the Doctor Who Movie, we now come to the revival series and our ninth doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston. The way Eccleston came to become the 9th doctor is that after he played the role of Stephen Baxter in the 2 part ITV drama (that may be different in some countries, just saying), The Second Coming, he then emailed Russell T Davis about possibly taking on the role of the Doctor in the revival series and a few months later, it was confirmed that he would be the next doctor.

Eccleston's portral of the Doctor is that he's more of a stripped down doctor, just being the average time lord with 2 hearts and travelling through time and space. He has a typical present day look with his leather jacket and jeans and what not and has a northern accent which he describes as being common on most planets, when questioned by his companion, Rose Tyler. The personality that I can see from him, is that he wants to go all out on any enemy he comes across, sometimes even causing an open war to happen. While you could say that he is quite careless at times, he does think about the future of the human race and always wants to not think about the past as he has had many regrets.

Now like with the 8th doctor, the 9th didn't really stay long as Eccleston said that he only wanted to make his contribution to the show and as such, left the show after one season. For the time he was given, he managed to get the character back to the way we know him best, but towards a new generation that for the most part, works. Is he a good doctor? I would think so, but I don't really see him as being one of the greatest though. Just saying. 8/10
