Random Movie Review - Doom

Wow, its been quite a while since I last reviewed a random film and this time, we have a bad video game film. Loosely based on the 1993 video game series of the same name by Id Software that basically help paved the way to how we see first person shooter games today, let's take a look at this:

The year is 2046 and a group of scientists that are stationed on Mars (...yeah I see that happening 30 years from now) are attacked by an unseen monster and send out a distress call. On Earth, a group of marines receive this distress call and upon suiting up, they then head to Mars to find this monster and destroy it while saving any surviving scientists along the way. Will they succeed in their mission and what will they find in Mars.

Now according to most critics and film goers, there seems to be this law that all films based on a video game are doomed to suck and in the case of this film, yeah that's very much indeed the case. I haven't really played the game its loosely based on as much as others, but it does surprise me that for a film that has 2 badass actors Karl Urban (Dredd) and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Fast & Furious and many others), this would've worked. Unfortunately, it doesn't really have any connection to the video game despite having the same name and sci-fi feel to it and I actually did feel quite bored just watching it. Is it the worst video game film ever? I wouldn't think so. I mean it is bad, but there are some things to like about it like the awesome Universal logo which replaces Earth with Mars, but apart from that, its just a bore fest for me and it turns out that the film makers were keen to make a sequel for the film, but eventually after its failure, decided not to. I think fans of the game will find some enjoyment in this film, but for me, its just a bore fest and is worth skipping. 7/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
