Video Game DLC (sort of) Review - Infamous: First Light

I don't think I'll ever understand Sucker Punch's concept of story based DLC. Only say that because the last one they did was also a stand alone DLC which remained separate from Infamous 2, but anyway. So with Second Son being among the more successful PS4 games so far, DLC would of course be on the way, but as opposed to typical DLC that would have players launch it from the game itself, this one you can get without Second Son, but having Second Son would grant the player access to exclusive content. So let's take a look:

So serving as a spin-off and prequel to Second Son, we follow the conduit with neon powers called Abigail Walker aka Fetch (voiced and motion captured by Laura Bailey) who at the time set in this game, is still a prisoner in the D.U.P. controlled prison of Curdun Cay. She gives Brooke Augustine a demonstration of her powers while also talking about her back story involving her brother, acquiring drugs and going up against some Russian gangs while trying to keep her powers to a minimum which would one day, be her greatest weapon for survival. So much like with Second Son, you have not all but have of Seattle to explore in an open world environment. Fetch's powers are near identical to Delsin's neon powers (which he got off her in the main game) but with a few additional enhancements to make the powers her own and not too identical to Delisn. A few new side quests are here to make use of her powers like chases, rescuing hostages and destroying drones. And that's pretty much it.

Its not as big or grand like Second Son is, but I admire Sucker Punch for making games in this series to have a different protagonist with different but unique powers and not always Cole McGrath, even though he is a fan favourite. The side quests are good, Fetch's powers are great and are not as identical to when Delsin has her powers and much like with the main game, its fun to cause destruction and I hope we get to see more conduits given the spotlight in the future. 8/10
