Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Review - A Hen In The Wolf House (S2, E5)

Well there's a lot happening in this episode. More is revealed of Skye's father, Simmons's cover in Hydra is at stake and we learn a little bit more of the Obelisk and that alien writing. So let's take a look:

So with Hydra not having the Obelisk in their possession, this makes it impossible for them to weaponize it. Raina (the woman in the flower dress) begs for Skye's father (played by Kyle MacLachlan) to hand over the Obelisk, but chooses not to due to her failure of delivering Skye. Raina decides to blackmail Coulson whereby if he allows Skye to see her father, Simmons's cover will not be exposed. But if he refuses, who knows what will happen to Simmons. However, it seems that whatever happens, Coulson has a few tricks up his sleeve so watch the episode to find out the results.

While I am more in favour of praising Gotham more than this show at the current time, it is in a way, a better season than the first one in that there is more going on and its all about rebuilding the once great organisation that was S.H.I.E.L.D. which Hydra destroyed in The Winter Solider and I think its doing OK so far. As for this episode, it does feel kind of rushed, but despite that, there is plenty of suspense, curiosity and action which are all balanced out pretty well. But the show still has a lot of work to do if its ever going to stand a chance against Gotham in the ratings. 8/10
