Random Video Game Review - Angry Birds: Transformers

Like with Hyrule Warriors, all I can say is better late than never. So the Angry Birds have merged into the Rio universe, travelled to a galaxy far far away and become iconic characters when doing so and now they become Transformers. I never thought in a million years that such a popular mobile game like Angry Birds would eventually take on the world of transforming robots and yet here we are. So let's see if this game fare's better than the travesty that Michael Bay's films are:

So an egg known as the EggSpark (a pun on the All Spark) lands on Piggy Island which transforms all living beings into Transformers (with the birds being Autobirds and the pigs being Deceptihogs) and all non living beings into weapons of mass destruction that want to destroy all living life. Both sides choose to put their differences aside and capture the EggSpark before all hell breaks loose. So the game plays out like a 2d side scrolling shooting gallery where you're tasked with shooting down pigs which are needed to free and unlock characters while also trying to survive as you go. Each of the birds and pigs have different but near enough the same ways of handling each level that you put them on and they can transform into vehicles to avoid falling towers. Collecting gold coins will help you upgrade each transformer to give them new abilities and make them more powerful and can also reveal new areas once you reach a certain rank and have a certain amount of coins. Also when you connect the game online to your Rovio account and social networks, any of your friends who also have the game, can assist you temporarily in each level which helps in more of the difficult ones.

An interesting choice of crossover which I think pays off very well. Which variation of the transformers this game is based on, is in my opinion a mix of the well known and loved ones. Its OK for the most part, but can be quite challenging at times when all the shooting pigs come at you. But otherwise, if you love Angry Birds and Transformers, then you'll enjoy this for what it is. 7/10
