I think I speak on behalf of all those who have seen this series and/or are Doctor Who fans that this hasn't been the best series so far. I mean for most of it, its felt like more of a show about Clara and her life with the Doctor being a supporting character, whereas many of us will know that the show must always have the Doctor as the main focus with his enemies and allies have slightly less focus. The series started with a 75 minute long first episode so in a way, it feels right to end the series with a similar length and this final episode clocks in at 60 minutes, but as its part 2 of a 2 part story, add that to the 45 minute episode last week and it clocks in at 105 minutes total. If that's not feature length, then I don't know what is. Still its good to get a 2 parter after what seems to be a long hiatus of not having one so let's get right to it:
So inside Missy's HQ as it were, Clara is trapped by a Cyberman and attempts to convince it that she is not Clara and that she has never existed. Outside, the Doctor comes to terms with the revelation of Missy and her plans before both are taken into the custody of UNIT where the duo along with the Doctor's Tardis, hitch a ride on a UNIT plane where Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (reprised by Jemma Redgrave) tells the Doctor that he has been nominated as the President of Earth and the fate of it, now rests in his hands. How it all ends is now down to what the Doctor chooses to do at this point.
That's pretty much the summary of the episode without giving away too many spoilers if you haven't seen the last episode. The whole situation with the Cybermen does work in a way, but the revelation about their purpose I personally did not see that coming. There is some great performances from Coleman, Anderson and Capaldi in this episode and while I do think it isn't the best series, it is a great finale, even though it does feel a bit rushed and also unnecessarily kills off some characters while also referencing those who have passed on in the Doctor Who universe (especially the Brigadier). 9/10
