Gotham Review - Viper (S1, E5)

So Penguin has been the main focus of the show so far and it looks like we're now getting the first glimpse of Bane. No not the Nolan one who served as more of a terrorist and leader, I'm talking about the one that all Batman fans know and love. The one who is deranged, crazy and addicted to a chemical known as Venom which makes him super strong, but also insane. But enough about that, let's look at this episode:

So, curious of the whole business with Arkham, Bruce hatches a plan to speak with the Wayne Enterprises Board Members about their connection with the Arkham District Project and when he and Alfred are invited to some kind of party at the place itself, he decides to do just that (or at the very least, try to). Meanwhile, it seems that some kind of drug known as Viper (which is the early stages of the Venom that Bane uses) has hit the streets of Gotham which whoever consumes the drug, will give them super strength but would kill them as a result and is up to Gordon and Bullock to put a stop to it before it gets out of hand. All that, plus we hear a bit about Cobblepot's past while his boss Maroni plans to tackle Falcone and his forces by robbing one of his casinos.

There is a lot going on in this episode and I have to admit, despite most episodes focusing on particular crimes while also moving the series story forward, it is still getting better and better. There's more character development with the main characters and some of the reoccurring ones and the whole thing about the Viper drug proves that Bane will make an appearance at some point in the show (most likely in a later season if it goes that way). I'm enjoying it and that's what counts. 9/10
