AC18 - RMR - Pinocchio

So following the success that Snow White had, the next story that Walt Disney decided to do, would be based on an Italian children's novel which as such, the film shares the same name. Like with Christmas Carol, there have been a number of adaptations of this story, but the Disney one is the most well known and beloved of the bunch. Its notable for introducing us to Jiminy Cricket (voiced by Cliff Edwards in this film and other projects until 1971) who would then go on to serve as the narrator for many other Disney projects as well as the chronicler of Sora's adventures in the Kingdom Hearts games. Not only that, but the song "When you wish upon a Star" inspired Disney to do a variation of that song in all their logo appearances at the beginning of most of their later films (in all forms) from the late 80s to the present among many other things as well. From what I know, it was the first ever adaptation of the story so let's see if it has aged well:

So Jiminy Cricket watches as a woodworker called Geppetto (voiced by Christian Rub) creates a puppet called Pinocchio while he wishes for it to become real and if you know the story well, that's exactly what happens when the Blue Fairy (voiced by Evelyn Venable) appears during the night to do just that and appoints Jiminy as the boy concious. However, he is still a puppet, but is able to move like a real boy, just to avoid confusion. So Geppetto is overjoyed to hear of this and intends to raise him as his own, but like with anyone who has no idea of how the world works, Pinocchio soon realises that not everything in the world can be as great as he seems to think.

The film I felt was another one of Disney's greatest films. Its so well know, so iconic and its just a great film that further continues to amaze people and have children learn a thing or two from it which is great and I like that the characters have been put into other Disney projects like Kingdom Hearts because it just wouldn't be a big Disney crossover or project without them. And I have to say, it has aged well too. 9/10
