New Year's Day Special - RMR - New Year's Eve

Happy New Year to you all. Let's make 2015 a great one. So in my opinion, I find romantic comedies to be pretty boring and dull. That's not to say that I hate a lot of them because in truth I don't. There are a few that I like and there are even a few films that focus on different characters that I like as well. But, this film is one that I don't think is bad, but its just not great and I think there are much better films out there than this one. That said, let's take a look at this film:

So we have seven scenarios which as with other films like this, will all collide with each other at the end. There's one about a woman making final arrangements for a ball drop in Times Square, New York. There's one about a female secretary who offers a deliveryman tickets to a Ball if he helps her with her New Year's resolutions. There's one about a worrying mother who is having trouble with her daughter who just wants to spend New Year's Eve with friends and her boyfriend. There's one about a comic book illustrator who hates New Year's Eve and gets stuck on an elevator with a girl who will be a back singer for some singer at the ball drop. There's one about a guy who is in his final stages of cancer and wants to see the ball drop one last time before death. And the last one is about two competing couples who the wives are both expecting a child and will get a bonus on New Year's Eve just by being the first child born in the new year.

Yeah there is a heck of a lot going on and I'm not quite sure if I got all 7 there, but that's just the gist of it. As a film, its too complicated and dull and despite the all star cast, the film makers clearly didn't know what to do with them all and just thought about it on the job. I mean you've got a pretty good line up here with people like Michele Pfeiffer, Zac Efron, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry and horse face... I mean Sarah Jessica Parker and yet, you just can't find anything for them to do. I know this came out before Guardians of the Galaxy did, but at least that film was able to find things for all the actors to do and that film was great. Maybe you just need to learn a thing or two about using too many actors in films and then maybe, just maybe this film could work. But for what we get, its doesn't work. Some people will enjoy it, but I think the rest of us can skip this film just by how dull and boring it is. 2/10
