Random Movie Review - Justice League: Throne of Atlantis

So after what felt like an OK but not great film, WB and DC were determined to make more films in what can only be described as the start of a trilogy of films set in the same universe. This initially started in War which was then followed by a Batman spin-off called Batman & Son and now we get the first sequel to that film here and now. So so far, we've had a Justice League film that focuses mostly on Batman and how he becomes the real mastermind behind Vandal Savage's plans to remove the JL from his big plans in Doom and we've had another Justice League film that focuses mostly on Flash and how he made the timeline drastically change to a world that is doomed to die in The Flashpoint Parodox. Now we get the long awaited film that finally gives Aquaman the recognition that he deserves, having always been put aside in many forms of Justice League media, aside from the comics. So let's see if this film manages to do an origin story that tells everyone that Aquaman is more than just some guy who can talk to sea creatures:

So the film begins with Cyborg (reprised by Shemar Moore) investigating a sunken sub who's entire crew is deceased thanks to human like threats in the Atlantic. We then go to meet Arthur (aka Aquaman, voiced by Matt Lanter) who is drunk and saves a lobster he was talking to from being eaten by the general public. Cyborg returns to Justice League HQ and calls upon the other members to talk about what he discovered using Flash (reprised by Christopher Gorham) and Shazam (reprised by Sean Astin) to rally them up. They discover that the forces that Cyborg was attacked by earlier on are not part of Darkseid but rather of Earth origin to which Wonder Woman (voiced by Rosario Dawson in this film) confirms to be from Atlantis and it then becomes apparent that the League may just get a new member while also dealing with any threats that come to the surface world.

All I can say really is that its a good film. It gives Aquaman enough to have people start to like him and its great that we can actually get to know the character years before his big screen debut. I wouldn't say its the best DC film that I have seen, but there is enough in it for people to enjoy. But I think the voice actors could do with a change. I'm not saying that they are bad, I just think that there are other voice actors out there that can do better. 8/10
