Random Movie Review - Shaun the Sheep Movie

Man I've seen so many films already this year hence why some of these reviews are here later than sooner. But anyway, let's talk about Shaun. Now for those of you who don't know, Shaun was a character seen in the Wallace & Gromit film "A Close Shave" and because of how popular the character was, Aardman decided that after making some films with DreamWorks and Sony, they would then focus on making a children's show for Shaun the Sheep which would then be shown on the BBC's children orientated programming slot and channel CBBC which even though started out as just a spin off from Wallace & Gromit, it later expanded into its own universe which shows in this very film. I haven't seen much of the show, but I do know a great deal about it and if you're expecting there to be dialogue, prepare to be disappointed. As for the rest of us, read on:

So its a normal day on the farm and Shaun (who's noises are provided by Justin Fletcher) wants to spend a day doing what he and his fellow sheep want to do, but can't due to the farmer and his dog Blitzer (the noises of both are provided by John Sparkes) treating them like normal sheep. However, Shaun hatches a plan to remove the farmer and Blitzer which leads to the farmer losing his memories and both he and Blitzer end up in the Big City. Shaun chooses to head into the Big City to bring the two back home with his friends not far behind, but with an animal catcher hot on their tail and being in an area that is way out of their comfort zone, its going to take a lot of guts and heart to do the job.

Now the film has received universal critical acclaim with it holding a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and having seen it for myself, its actually a pretty good film. It stays true to the show, has a lot of heart as well as fun and action packed moments and if there was ever a scenario for the film, this one fits the bill just right. Its well animated (though not as impressive as Pirates in my opinion), a lot of fun and anybody wanting to introduce their children to Shaun the Sheep, this is a great way to do just that. 9/10
