Review of the Week

Let's have a look at what's been happening this week:

Nintendo News - Goodbye Satoru Iwata
I know strictly speaking that this news came last week on Saturday, but I felt that I should have my say about it this week. So Satoru Iwata, the now former president and CEO of Nintendo, passed away last Saturday at the young age of 55. Now a lot of you may not know him that well unless your a gamer. Unlike Christopher Lee, Leonard Nimoy and Robin Williams who all made a huge impact to the world and are known all over, Iwata is only known to the gaming industry and helped Nintendo get to where they are today. Whether your a Nintendo gamer or play on other platforms, chances are that you may have come across this guy. As it says above, he was three things. A corporate president, a game developer and most importantly, a gamer. Its these quotes that made events like E3 great. These events aren't there for the sake of people wanting money. They are there to have developers who have worked hard on their games, to show off their games in the hopes that people can enjoy and like what they have spent hours making. So you can forget innovation and all these business numbers because it was people like Iwata who made it clear that events like E3 should be about games and only games. Not technology unless its entirely necessary. So as a developer, he has worked on a wide range of Nintendo games including some in the Pokemon, Kirby, Zelda, Mario and Animal Crossing franchises, but his most notable one is Earthbound, a game that had a very limited release initally until recently. So whether your catching Pokemon, stomping Goombas or just doing a bit of fishing, some of those things would've never happened if it wasn't for Iwata. He was a great man in the gaming industry and he will be missed by many. A shame really because there aren't many people out there that are like him in the industry these days, but at least he went out in style as a Muppet. RIP Satoru Iwata

In other news this week, Warner Bros. release trailers for Batman VS Superman and Suicide Squad (though are disappointed with the latter because of leaks), Guillermo del Toro decided to choose Pacific Rim 2 over a Justice League film, Batman: Arkham Knight for PC sees a possible August re-release after many technical hiccups, George Lucas has become a Disney Legend, next Spider-Man film is in its early stages, next GTA game may see you finally play as a policeman, Apple Pay is released and is to compete with Google, Angry Birds is somehow getting its first ever sequel, Ant-Man may be coming to Disney Infinity 3.0 and Marvel is to bring out a collector's edition boxset of MCU Phase 2.

Now onto the week's film and video game releases in most areas:

Films:
Ant-Man (many areas with more to follow. Review coming soon)
Trainwreck (some areas with many more to follow)

Video Games:
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour (PS4 and XB1) (Worldwide)

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
