Boxes of Stuff - September 2015

This time Nerd Block enters Hyperspace, My Geek Box journeys to the dark side, I summon the Loot Crate, there's plenty of stardust in Geek Fuel and journey to a fantasy land in Infinity Crates. So let's open them up and see what we get inside:

Nerd Block - Hyperspace
Most sci-fi things generally have ships enter hyperspace which basically means fast travel to another planet and because Nerd Block are now doing a monthly sci-fi block, this is likely to be the last of the sci-fi stuff in Nerd Block Classic. But anyway, in the box, we have a mash up poster of Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, Star Wars and Terminator which despite being small, looks very nice and well drawn. Remember that little rolling droid from the Star Wars: Force Awakens trailers? He's in the box as a plush. The starship enterprise from Star Trek is also in the box and comes with a spring. And to all you Supernatural fans out there, you can get yourself a mystery figure in this block. And let's not forget the t-shirt which is a mash up of robots from the days of old, to now. A pretty decent box in my opinion and one that certainly stays true to the theme.

My Geek Box - Dark Side
When it comes to the Dark Side, of course it wouldn't be all Star Wars. So in this box, we've got 2 Star Wars items which are a Darth Vader mask (not that I need one considering I have the voice changer mask) and a lightsaber containing pencils. We also get a Heisenberg travel mug which is great to put coffee in or some crystal meth like in Breaking Bad. We also get some sweets which is a staple in My Geek Box these days. An exclusive variant cover of a comic book called Rouge Trooper which I know very little about. And lastly, we have an awesome Venom t-shirt. A good box, but like before, most of the items here, I could've easily bought myself on the high street. But I do like comic books with variant covers or just sealed up.

Loot Crate - Summon
Whether you're using a Pokemon or some magical enchantment, summoning those things is the way to go. So following the trend set up in last month's box, we get another unique wearable which is a Pikachu hat with those dangley things. Like Supernatural? There's an exclusive car model here for you if you do. We also have a stress ball which looks like something from World of Warcraft, speaking of, we also get a code to use magical objects in a Blizzard game (they also develop the previously mentioned World of Warcraft). Homer Simpson in his Buddha form, is here. And finally, like always, the box can be transformed into a book and has a set of AR cards for you to use in Loot Crate's new app for iOS and Android devices (sorry Windows Phone users). Its a nice box with a lot of great stuff inside that I'm sure I will find some use out of.

Geek Fuel - Stardust
While not related to the film nor the book its based on, Stardust generally means sci-fi so more sci-fi stuff for me. In the box, we have a nice looking Force Awakens poster and a Boba Fett (presumably) t-shirt. A big badge that ties in with the release of the film The Martian. Another Steam code for the game Roche Fusion (with some hints to help you on your way). A variant cover of a Bob's Burgers comic book, the show I've heard of, but haven't seen it. A Doctor Who ice cube tray where you can make ice shaped Daleks or Tardises. And for her, some superhero nail stickers. Its a pretty good box, but some items I don't think I will get much fun out of.

Infinity Crate - Fantasy
Completing the line up is Infinity Crate who like always, give all their subscribers, something different based on their interests. In my case, I have a Legend of Zelda t-shirt with the Tri-Force in the middle. A big Pokemon fridge magnet because why not. Some kind of Star Wars flask which looks a bit flimsy. A poster of a to-do list in the fantasy world. A pack of sweets. And lastly, the Pop! vynl figure I get this time, is an unmasked Darth Vader. Pretty random, but this is what to expect from a subscription service that sends different items to people based on their interests.

Most of these boxes had at least one Star Wars item inside which I know is to get in to the fact that September was the month where new merchandise for the franchise was released, but I would've preferred a bit more variety. So based on that, plus that some franchises in the boxes this time are not really something I'm interested in, Loot Crate wins because of its variety. The others did well too, but just far too much Star Wars stuff for my liking.

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
