Random Movie Review - This is the End

Before I do this, can I just say that if you're taking this review too literally, don't. I have no intention of ending this blog any time soon as I enjoy playing around with it too much. So with that out of the way, do you ever wonder how celebrities would cope during the apocalypse? Well film making duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (you know, the guys who nearly caused bombings to happen at cinemas everywhere with their controversial film The Interview) decided to play on this idea which led to making this film which just so happens to be a feature length version of a short film Rogen and an actor called Jay Baruchel (you know, the guy behind the voice of Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon) did a while back. To be honest, I think this is what I would've expected to see if celebrities were in a situation like this, just without all the servants and so forth that rich people tend to get. But enough talk, let's review this and end it like the title says:

So all the actors in this film, play fictionalized versions of themselves so chances are that these people are actually nice people in real life, despite what you see here. So Jay arrives in Los Angeles to meet old friend and fellow actor Seth Rogen. Seth and him go to a house warming party hosted by James Franco where a lot of celebrities and actors attend. Among these people are the Superbad trio of Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Hermione Granger herself Emma Watson, the man who would eventually be known as Ant-Man Paul Rudd and many others. Jay begins to feel uncomfortable with being around people he hardly knows and so he and Seth go to a convenience store to get some cigarettes. But they notice beams of light taking people away and so head back to the party where everything seems to be ok until the chaos comes to Franco's house consuming most of the partygoers, but leaving Jay, Seth, Franco, Jonah and Craig Robinson unharmed (for now anyway). So doing what most people do to survive, they take in rations and use Franco's house as a safe house while they await help. And with Danny McBride joining them the next morning, a lot of s**t may be going down and only a few will survive.

As this is the directorial debut of Rogen and Goldberg, I think they managed to be able to be just as good, if not better than other people who do these kinds of things like the South Park lot, the Cornetto Trilogy trio and others. It perfectly describes how celebrities who are put in a situation like this, would cope as it all unfolds and I actually quite like it a lot. Saying that, I am surprised as to how their next film ended up nearly putting people in danger. I mean I know they follow in the footsteps of the previously mentioned people, but man, did not expect that coming. But for what its worth, these two know how to make people laugh and certainly know how to make things good if not better than those who have done this sort of work before. 9/10
