AC20: Random Movie Review - Bee Movie

So having successfully winning the battle of the ants, DreamWorks would then have another attempt at trying to get a bug to the big screen and next in line, is some honey bees. Now for a film to be called Bee Movie, chances are that the film makers couldn't find anything creative to name it and in all honesty, I can't think of any name for it either. But anyone who is a Seinfield fan will enjoy it as the majoirty of the cast are from that show and the main man himself is one of the people behind the making of the film while also starring in it. So let's see if this film is as sweet as honey or a right old stinger:

So it turns out that inside a beehive is a workforce which makes honey. Seems simple enough. So we meet a bee called Barry B. Benson (get it? voiced by the main man himself) who recently graduated from college and begins working in this so called workforce that makes honey. However he soon realises that once his job is picked, that's it. He can't choose after that. Begging to go out into the world, he tags along with a group of harvesting bees where during a rain storm, he meets a woman who has much love for flowers. As their relationship blooms, he realises that bees are being used by humans to make honey and goes on a quest to sue the human race and put an end to the exploitation of bees, but the fate of bees and humans alike hangs in the balance and its not long before things go awry.

I remember seeing this at the cinema with friends and all I can say is that its not very good. It tries very hard to be a good film, but ultimately, the acting gets old, the jokes are bland and it just doesn't have the sweetness that honey has. There's even a few moments in which the film completely forgets about certain characters, leaving their stories to be unresolved and I much prefer a film where everything is resolved in some form, but if its a series of films, I'd be fine with it. As it is, its not a great film, but I think there are things to enjoy in this film, but not a great deal of things unfortunately. 7/10
