AC7: Movie Review - The Good Dinosaur

So this is a first for Pixar. Releasing 2 films in the same year. A recipe for disaster? We shall see. Its going to be hard to top Inside Out and the story about a dinosaur and some cave boy, well I'm not entirely sure if its going to cut it. But let's see. Now bear in mind that Disney have attempted to make films with dinosaurs before with some having success and others not so much. But let's see if this is one of their better ones:

So we come into some alternate universe where the asteroid didn't hit Earth and the dinosaurs are still living and breathing and have adapted to becoming working class beings. Our focus is on a family of farmers consisting of Poppa Henry (voiced by Jeffrey Wright), his partner Momma Ida (voiced by Frances McDormand) and their children Buck (voiced by Marcus Scribner), Libby (voiced by Maleah Padilla) and Arlo (voiced by Raymond Ochoa). Each of these dinosaurs want to put their mark on a silo containing their food, but must prove their worth. Everyone except for Arlo is able to do this whereas Arlo isn't too sure what to do to put his mark on the silo. His father becomes the fighting spirit in him to help him put his mark on the silo which leads Arlo to go into a journey to face his fears and learn all sorts of lessons in a journey of discovery as it were.

I have to say, this is unlike any dinosaur film I have seen before. You often see dinosaur films like this as either being part of the real history, or wearing clothes and adapting to modern life. But this is none of those things and the dinosaurs have simply adapted to being in the working class to put it in better terms. Anyway so the idea is great, its beautifully animated (and I know I'm not the first to say that) and its very heart warming and worthy of your time. Its not as great as Inside Out, but its still another one of Pixar's best films so give it a watch. 9/10

As always, there is a short film that comes with this one so let's talk about that:
This time, we have a short that is mostly based on a true story and is actually quite good. It focuses on a boy and his father who are both doing different things and both are annoyed at the others disturbances. But the boy gives in to the father and joins him in meditation and goes into some kind of mind trip.

This short is well animated, shows the best of both worlds and actually reminds of those old 90s cartoons with those mythical monsters. So I got a nostalgic vibe from this film which is always good in my books. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
