Movie Series Review - (insert place here) Has Fallen

Here's the thing. Disaster films never really work for me. They just seem to go over the same whole scenario over and over again. A world leader has been made a target and some disgraced wannabe tasks himself to protect this world leader. Not the most original of ideas for a film and to be honest, there isn't much you can do with disaster films that hasn't been done before. But saying that, if there was a bit of fantasy added to the mix, then I'd be interested. So here we have two films which have Two-Face playing the US president, Morgan Freeman of all people playing the US vice president and the king of Sparta himself playing the secret services disgraced wannabe. I want to like these films, but if you're not going to give it any originality and go over the same scenario and cliches that have been done many times before, then what's the point? But they both have a lot of action packed moments so I can't really complain much there. So let's have a look at these 2 films:

Olympus Has Fallen
The film begins with the president and his family going for a drive in Mount David. But when the car they are in spins out of control, the president and his son are able to get out, but the first lady, is unable to and thus falls to her death. A year and a bit later, during a meeting with the South Korean prime minister, the White House is assaulted in the ground and the air by terrorists who with the help of what were the prime minister's allies who have become traitors, hold him and other officials hostage in the hopes to be able to reunify Korea. Its now up to a disgraced secret services agent to save the president and the White House before nuclear weapons are unleashed onto the world. Just by reading that, I know its been done before, but I also know that this film was one of two films about a terrorist attack on the White House, the other film being White House Down. While neither film aren't entirely great, this film has a lot more serious moments in it and has a pretty decent cast who act very well. Its just a shame that the writing is too predictable because this had a lot going for it, but oh well. 7/10

London Has Fallen
A terrorist mastermind, has been reported to be responsible for an attack in Europe and when an MI6 agent is able to locate him, a drone strike force bombs the place in the hopes to take him out. However, he survives and plans a revenge. This revenge sees the world leaders of the western areas all coming to London for what they can assume is a funeral, but later find that it was all a trap set by this mastermind to enact revenge on the death of his family. With London being turned into a war zone, the president and his top secret services agent work together to find a way out, using any ally they can find in the process. I enjoyed this film when I saw it and I like that its a sequel that makes things bigger like any sequel should. But the thing is that its filled with predictable moments and I just hate those villains who do the "I'm better than you" acting that drives me nuts and has been done so many times before. Not the best film I've seen, but its enjoyable despite its flaws. 8/10

And really that's it. I don't have anything else to say than just ask myself, will there ever be a disaster film that is original. Still, I found some enjoyment in these 2 films despite their flaws and they are both good popcorn films, if anything. 8/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
