Seeing as I talked about Olympus Has Fallen last week along with its sequel, it feels right of me to talk about its competitor in the year it was released. It happens. There comes those times where we get 2 or more films that play out very similarly to one another. A good example of this is Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War which both come out this year. Both films aim to give us two heroes fighting against each other with or without allies in a world where superheroes have to face the consequences of their actions in the past and the government have to make a decision on whether to accept these heroes or class them as vigilantes, among a wide array of other things. So with that said, let's look at another film about the White House being taken over by terrorists:
So the scenario is similar, but has a few differences along the way. Channing Tatum plays the main protagonist who tasks himself to take down a few bad guys to protect the president and other hostages. This time however, the president is able to slip past the terrorists and helps Tatum and the VP any way he can to protect America and to help take down the terrorists before more things happen.
There really isn't much else to say about this film. Its just Olympus Has Fallen, but with different actors and certain things happening differently. The director is known for making many disaster films which have been met with a very mixed response over the years. Its hard to say really whether I prefer this or Olympus Has Fallen because they are so very similar that its just too hard to pick which one as my personal pick. But for what this film is, its well acted and its a great popcorn film, but is filled with cliches that have been done to death in many films like this. 7/10
