Random Video Game Review - Lucky's Tale

So Virtual Reality has been around for quite some time and most of us know that its not anything new. Its been around since the 1950s (according to Wikipedia) and has only ever been seen in a rare and limited form such as experiences in museums and what not. But of course everyone remembers the fiasco that Nintendo had with their VirtualBoy which was a huge flop which almost made the company go bankrupt which would've been the very case if the N64 didn't save the company which it very well did. But going to more recent times, we've come to a stage now where technology is so advanced that Virtual Reality can now be used in homes albeit for a great deal of money. In the gaming market, you have the Oculus Rift which was made thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign as well as a small partnership with Microsoft, the HTC Vive which was a joint venture with HTC and Valve in the hopes to bring Steam to the world of VR, and PlayStation VR which to date is the only VR headset made for a console rather than a PC. Of the three, I have got the Oculus Rift and I hope to get the other two in the future. Shipped with every Oculus Rift is a game called Lucky's Tale and for some consumers, a bonus game (which I will talk about next week). The first thing that comes to my mind when I saw this in action, was that I thought Lucky looked a lot like Tails from the world of Sonic the Hedgehog. You can see the resemblance. But its not a spin off as such, its instead an original game or new IP as gamers would call it. Let's have a look:

So Lucky's Tale follows a scenario that is similar to games like Super Mario and Legend of Zelda in the sense that it is a damsel in distress kind of game, but its a friend of Luckys' rather than a romantic love interest. It is a platforming game so plenty of jumping, killing enemies among other things are all here to keep you amused. As far as the VR aspect is concerned, you can play the game while admiring the world around you which is very colourful.

Yeah not much to say other than that. Its a good introduction to the Oculus Rift and does its job well. Its no first person game, but its still a fun game to play. 7/10
