Random Movie Review - Transformers: Age of Extinction

Its Transformers. Michael Bay is directing it. Expect it to be long, full of explosions and plenty of eye candy for the teenage boys out there that this and Bay's other films are tailored to. You all know my opinions on the last 3 films (my real opinions, not my original ones obviously) so let's just dive in and be done with it:

So following after the third film, the Autobots are being hunted by humans with a group of humans having been able to create their own Transformers (or rather ally themselves with Transformers from afar) to help them. Our focus is on an inventor (played by Mark Wahlberg), his daughter (played by Nicola "my acting has not improved since The Last Airbender of which I played a character who is supposed to be light hearted and smart" Peltz), her boyfriend (played by Jack Reynor) and the inventor's best friend (played by T.J. Miller). The inventor finds what looks like Optimus Prime (voiced by Prime's most frequent collaborator, Peter Cullen) and soon gets himself and the other 3 into the battle with the Autobots in their desperate attempt to stop this new threat where now its not just enemy Transformers, but hostile humans as well (yeah I know there was like one or two people in film 3 that were hostile, but not to this extent).

You all know why it sucks so I don't really need to explain why I don't like it. I am surprised that Bay chose to carry on making these films despite deciding to leave after the third film and with news that there are more films on the way, its starting to really drive us all nuts. Paramount have made lots of money, but not many solid hits with their films recently (the only two exceptions being the Mission Impossible and Star Trek films) and I'm starting to wonder whether they should still be considered a major film studio when its competitors are making more money and more hits in general than they are. If there is anything positive that I can say about the Transformers films, its that it was the reason why such internet celebrities like the Nostalgia Critic exist. Its the reason why we all now can have our opinions on things. If it wasn't for people like him, the responses most critics make to films, wouldn't have been able to guide us in the way they do today and that is something that Bay was able to do, even if it was unintentional. Will his films ever be good? Probably not, but if there is anyone to blame for us having the ability to voice our opinions, its him. But seriously, Transformers and TMNT need to be made by people that actually make good films, not by people who don't know the first thing about good and clever film making. 2/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2
