Movie Review - Finding Dory

You know, when Pixar announced that they wouldn't be doing any more sequels/prequels after Toy Story 4, The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3, I personally felt that their decison was a good one. I mean let's face it, the only good sequels/prequels that we have had thus far from them, have all been Toy Story films. Cars 2 was a complete and utter flop and Monsters University despite being a decent film, may have been well overrated. None of us really asked for some of these films and yet we got them anyway. Having said that, we all want a sequel to The Incredibles and we are getting that film soon. So now we come to Finding Dory, a sequel to Finding Nemo, but I'd say it could've gone with a better name because when you watch this, its not really about finding Dory, but rather Dory finding her parents. So while many of us may not have wanted another Finding film, I guess we got another one anyway so let's dive in to this film that Dory may forget altogether:

So the film begins as we see a young Dory (reprised by American chat show host Ellen DeGeneres) being bought up by her parents (mother voiced by Diane Keaton and father voiced by American Pie regular Eugene Levy). But something happens and Dory ends up in the ocean where her short term memory loss gets the better of her which has her end up bumping into Marlin (reprised by Albert Brooks) who has lost his son Nemo (this time voiced by Hayden Rolence) and Dory goes to help Marlin find him, thus leading into Finding Nemo. One year later and Dory has been welcomed into the coral that Marlin and Nemo reside in and it is here when Dory remembers her parents and goes on a journey to find them with Marlin and Nemo, meeting some familiar faces as well as some new ones along the way. Its an adventure she will probably forget.

You know, I think Pixar may have finally been able to get a sequel to one of their other films beside Toy Story that is actually great. I mean Cars 2 sucked and Monsters University was ok but not great, but now we have a Pixar sequel that is good if not just as good as its predecessor. The visuals were spectacular, the new characters were interesting and each had their own unique personality and it was nice to spend most of the film in a new environment for our characters which may actually shed some new light on what aquariums are like from the perspective of fish and other animals who live in the water. Another great film Pixar. Keep it up. 9/10

Oh and as for the short film which is about a bird and the ocean, I liked it. It was cute, had very realistic visuals and it was somewhat funny too and very light hearted. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
