Random Video Game Review - Inside

So its been a while since I last heard from Playdead, an indie developer behind the critically acclaimed Limbo. Well today we're looking at their latest game which builds upon what made Limbo great with a graphical enhancement and not many, but some colours to support the dark and bleak world that you are in. Its no sequel nor is it connected to Limbo in any way, but it is very similar. So let's look at Inside:

So games that have stories that are left to the imagination, generally don't do well if you get one thing wrong and the fanbase goes insane so forgive me if I get any of this wrong. So we meet an unnamed and mute boy who travels through a world where a facility are using mindless humans as slaves, but there may be something that they are hiding in the shadows. It does have more things going for it as opposed to what Limbo had in that the game not only has a forest setting, but a city, a farm and eventually some kind of top secret facility. As you progress through the game, the boy will encounter some enemies, gain some kind of powers and will learn more about this top secret thing.

So those of you who are wondering where the horror element is, it is in there, but telling you about it would spoil it for you. Its not a long game and I completed it in just under 3 hours, but that's what you expect in indie games. But despite that, it has easy controls, its presented very well even if it looks dull and depressing at times and like all other indie games that I have reviewed and played, it just shows that great games don't have to have a large development team nor need the common elements seen in other games to be great. Another great game from Playdead and I look forward to seeing what else comes from them in the future. 9/10
