For years, I always wondered what ever happened to many of the actors from Disney's animated films of the Disney Renaissance, among them being Nathan Lane who voiced Timon from the Lion King. Well its true that he has kind of fallen off the radar and hasn't done many big films in recent years, but he's still doing things. Then as for Lee Evans, well he's very well known here in the UK and is probably one of the most energetic comedians I have ever come to know. So here we are with Mouse Hunt, DreamWorks very first family film and one that in a way, pays homage to those old Laurel and Hardy shorts while also has some Tom and Jerry like antics too. So I guess the best way to do this review, is to find that mouse:
So Lee and Nathan play these two brothers who one day are given a factory owned by their late wealthy father (played by the late William Hickey) and the vast majority of the film is the duo trying to make some money with their own ventures which would ultimately lead to them making the factory work again. But the big question is can they make enough money to live on while we also find out how the mouse fits in to all of this and why it needs hunting down.
Its a pretty decent film that's is funny and does what the title says. Its not a great film though as it does kind of wear thin after a while, but its funny and manages to as I said, give me a Laurel & Hardy and Tom and Jerry vibe so it manages to do those parts well and those are quite possibly the best things about this film. A good family film I'd say. 7/10
