So next up from Nickelodeon is another film based on another NickToon and one that is probably just as good if not better than that of Rugrats and Jimmy Neutron. For those of you who don't know, The Wild Thornberrys is all about this girl who gets the amazing ability to talk to animals and travels the world with her adventurous parents who hope to document everything on their travels as well as her typical teenage sister, her adopted brother and a monkey. Hilarity is to be expected as we see something that we expect will be spectacular:
So going against what we want to see, our main character Eliza (reprised by Lacey Chabert) due to a misunderstanding with protecting a group of cubs, is sent to a boarding school in London for her safety. Longing to return to talking to animals, she attempts to return to the wild, but learns of much deadlier things that could very well tear her world apart.
So while the whole idea of sending Eliza to a boarding school goes against what we want to see, I will say that it is also quite original for this TV series. The majority of the series is the family travelling all over the world so normal doesn't really fit in with them so the school element was a nice if not sudden change of pace. But the good news is that it only takes up a small portion of the film and the rest is pretty much what we fans are wanting to see which is talking animals, slap stick comedy and wonder. Not one of Nick's best films overall, but its a good film and gives fans what we want to see, well eventually anyway. 9/10
