AC9: Random Movie Review - The Little Prince

With Disney and DreamWorks Animation being the juggernauts of animated films, it kind of makes it sound like every other animated film that comes out is not going to be as great as those films. That however is not true as many animated films that have come out from other studios have managed to do well and have proven to be just as good if not better than those two. The LEGO Movie, Despicable Me and Rio are good examples of this. But with all that said and done, there have been times where we get a animated film made by a lesser known studio though would most likely get distributed by one of the big major studios and today, that film we're talking about is The Little Prince. A film based on a children's book of the same name that features an all star cast and made its debut on Netflix. Let's have a look at it:

So we meet a mother (voiced by Rachel McAdams) who decides to set up a life plan for her daughter (voiced by Mackenzie Foy) giving her little to no leisure time in the hopes to have her get enrolled at the best school around. However, the girl is distracted by an elderly retired Aviator (voiced by The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges) who tells her the story of The Little Prince (voiced by Riley Osborne) whom he met in the Sahara Dessert after crash landing there and of the many things this little guy did with her mother not noticing this. And soon enough as the girl learns more about him, the more she wants to meet him.

Apart from the lack of any originality with the character names (though I will admit it does simplify things, making this review easier to write), its a very light hearted film that manages to weave stop motion and CGI in such a manner that it works out well for the film. Its also very well acted which I expect nothing more from the all star cast that it has and its just a good film to watch. A shame it never made it to the big screen, but hey at least it had a place on Netflix which is good. 9/10
