Random Movie Review - Sausage Party

If I have learned anything from animated films, its that even though a large amount of them are for children and families, there are some that like to enter adult territory. And this is a thing a lot of people don't get. Its easy to determine which is for children and families and what's for adults when it comes to live action films. But for animated ones, everyone just assumes its all child friendly. Well today's film certainly is not for children because not only is it made by the Seth Rogen crew, but it has drug use, food horror (for lack of a better word), strong language and just because I can't think of anything else better to describe it, food porn. And honestly, most people who see the title Sausage Party, it sounds like a porno when you really think about it. So let's have a look at another 2016 film that is mature in an otherwise mostly child orientated genre of films:

So the film takes place in a supermarket called Shopwells and the food there live in harmony with one another and hope to someday go to a place called the Great Beyond of which their gods live in (though in reality, the gods are actually humans who shop at this supermarket). One day, a bun called Brenda (voiced by Kristen Wig) and a sausage called Frank (voiced by Rogen) are among those who are chosen, but when a honey mustard bottle is returned by its owner, they soon find out that what they believe in, could very well be a lie and must fight for their survival. Even if it means forming an alliance with the rest of the food.

Now this isn't the first adult animated film I've seen and it certainly won't be the last. But I know that Seth and the gang wanted to match the quality of this animated film to that of Disney and DreamWorks and honestly, it is very good animation and would work really well in 3D. I don't think I have ever seen something so obnoxious and so over the top like this. In a way, it makes me question if the food we eat are actually living and talking. So in other words, the film is very thought provoking, but it is so good and has possibly the best climax I've seen in such a film like this. Its great, it really is. But its definitely one for adults only. No children allowed. 9/10
