As you all know, I've been a long time fan of Batman, but I have never really seen much of the Adam West era. Most likely because I never got a chance to see any of it. Until now. Now WB have done pretty well with their animated films and what better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show than to give us a kind of reunion film. But as everyone knows, all or most of the surviving cast are all getting on now so I think WB and DC were wise enough to have it as an animated film than another live action film. So let's re-enter the world of campy Batman and dive into this film:
At Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne (reprised by West) and his ward/sidekick Dick Grayson (reprised by Burt Ward) are sitting down watching their favourite show The Gotham Palace. As they watch it, a band that was supposed to play, end up being hidden and replaced by the dynamic duo's greatest villains The Joker (voiced by Jeff Bergman of Looney Tunes fame since the 90s), Penguin (voiced by William Salyers who was Mordin in Mass Effect 3), The Riddler (voiced by Wally Wingert) and Catwoman (reprised by Julie Newmar). And so the duo suit up to take them down once again, unaware of what their bizzare and goofy plans are.
As someone who only watched some of the TV series, this film I'd say is faithful and true to it despite being animated. Its camp, goofy, has everything the show was known for and its just a load of fun. Batman fan or not, you will definitely have fun with this film. 9/10
