Random TV Season Review - Castlevania (Season 1)

So as Netflix continue to delete many of their shows, one of their new animated shows just so happens to be based on a very successful video game series from Konami during a time where the company were doing just fine and didn't rely heavily on Hideo Kojima to create great games for them. So here we are with another show that fulfils our nostalgic needs and for a video game adaptation, Castlevania is pretty damn good, but very short. So let's have a look at it:

Based on the third game in the video game series and set during a time where witchcraft was still punishable by death, the show begins with us witnessing the death of the wife of Count Vlad Dracula (voiced by a member of Thorin's company, Graham McTavish) who died after being accused of witchcraft. In response, he declares that the people of Wallachia will pay with their lives and sends his army to have everyone live their lives in fear and distrust. In the hopes to combat this threat, the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont family Trevor (voiced by Thorin Oakenshield himself, Richard Armitage) takes up arms against Dracula's forces, gaining help from some of the locals in the process.

This season just consists of 4 episodes and it looks like there will be another season on the way. For what it is, it is a very good show. I have myself played a couple of the games and the show as short as it is, represents the game well and goes above and beyond to make it more unique. It does have some very strong religious views which often become too much in your face at times. But its very action packed, represents the game well and the voice acting is very good too. Can't wait for the next season. 9/10
