Video Game Review - Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

So recently we got what I would consider the last Uncharted game that ended Nate's story on a positive note. So naturally the next game that would come out would have someone else as the main focus and that's exactly what we get. For those of you who have lived under a rock for the last decade or so, Chloe Frazer (voiced and motion captured by Claudia Black who reprises her role for the third time) made her debut in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves acting as a double agent for Nate and his team in the hopes to manipulate the game's main antagonist and assist as and when needed to. She was heavily promoted for that game to the point that many fans would see her as Nate's new love interest and they were right (to some extent). So anyway, let's look at this game and see just how much we know about Chloe Frazer:

Taking place months to a year after A Thief's End, Chloe Frazer enlists the help of the mercenary Nadine Ross (voiced and motion captured by Laura Bailey who reprises her role from the 4th main game) to help on a personal treasure hunt for the tusks of Ganesh, personal because its what her father tried to do also, but it consumed his own life. Naturally as it is with the Uncharted games, they are not the only ones after the treasure as a insurgents leader is also after it in the hopes to use it to rally people into revolution. After infiltrating the insurgents base, Chloe and Nadine steal a map which they hope would lead them to the tusks and so the adventure begins with the usual Uncharted things. So to start with, gameplay is pretty much as you'd expect from the series as it shows things from a third person perspective with platforming elements. Like with the main games, you are equipped with a gun and can use it to solve puzzles or take down enemies if you rather shoot than go head on. Its also good to know that Chloe has almost the same abilities as Nate when it comes to acrobat skills and free running. And of course, lots of treasure to find with the realistic graphics that the games are known for having.

So as far as the game is concerned, its a pretty good game. Normally I'm against games that are rushed, but I like that rather than do DLC, the good people at Naughty Dog made another game instead and for the short development time it had, it looks and plays good. I guess the only issue I have (and I know I'm saying exactly what everyone else has said when I say this) is the game's lack of innovation which given its short development time is something most hardcore players like myself look forward to seeing. Well I guess there's always The Last of Us 2. But for now, its a great game even if its lacking the innovation that previous games before it had. 7/10
