Random Movie Review - Bedknobs and Broomsticks

So those of you living in the UK will have heard about Bruce Forsyth's passing and to honor him, I decided to review one of the handful of films he has appeared in throughout his years of being an entertainer. For those of you who are not too familiar with his work, Bruce was an entertainer who has done numerous amounts of work for the BBC and is well known for being a presenter of such shows like The Price is Right, Play Your Cards Right and of course and more recently, Strictly Come Dancing. He also had such catchphrases like "Nice to see you to see you nice" as well as posing as a strong man. Plus he has what I call a very wicked yet permanent smile which generally goes down well with everyone. So here we are with one of his most well known films and even though his role was minimum at best, he still starred in it regardless. So let's see what makes some bedknobs and broomsticks tick:

Taking place in The Blitz, we meet three children called Charlie (played by Ian Weighill), Carrie (played by Cindy O'Callaghan) and Paul (played by Roy Snart) who are evacuated and taken under the care of the reclusive Miss Eglantine Price (played by the great Angela Lansbury) who is learning witchcraft. Having earned the children's interest, Price then seeks out a man called Emelius Brown (played by Mr Banks himself, David Tomlinson) and together, various and unusual events occur which may or may not help in the ongoing war around them.

While I'm sure that Brucie will be remembered more for the things he's well known for than this, this film is actually pretty good. Its similar to Mary Poppins in that it has David Tomlinson in a starring role and has a short but sweet animated segment, but otherwise its good and shows just how the lengths of witchcraft can go to, at least until Harry Potter came along of course. 8/10
