Random Movie Review - Wonder Woman (2017)

So I'm planning to review Justice League soon, but before that I need to be up to date with the DC Extended Universe. So as you may know, I missed out on watching Wonder Woman initially because at the time it came out, I was having a break from blogging. So rather than see it after my break, I decided to wait until it came out on home media and watch it that way. I heard that it managed to not only save the DC Extended Universe from certain doom, but it also broke the curse of female led superhero films which before this film, had a largely negative reception. I'll be the judge of whether it is good or not as this is my review. So let's talk about it and I don't need a lasso of truth to be honest and truthful about it:

So the film is loosely based on the Wonder Woman story Gods and Mortals much like with the 2009 animated film of the same name. But anyway, after having a look at the new intro for the DC logo, we go to present day Paris where Diana Prince (reprised by Gal Gadot) receives a photo from Bruce Wayne that she received from him during Dawn of Justice which then prompts her to recall her origins (or past if you prefer). We then go to the hidden island of Themyscira where Diana is being raised by her mother Queen Hippolyta (played by Connie Nielsen) who rules over the land of the Amazons, a land that only consists of females. While many choose to believe that the god of war Ares is long gone, there are those who believe that he will one day return and so Diana chooses to be trained for exactly that day. But when a man called Steve Trevor (played by alternate Captain Kirk, Chris Pine) crash lands near the island, Diana believes that the war he is currently fighting in could very well be leading to Ares return. And so against the wishes of her mother, Diana goes with Steve to his world where she learns about man and works to become the titular heroine we know and love.

My personal feelings about this film is that of the three films we have had already in the DCEU, this one is probably the best its had so far. Rather than slapping it in your face, it spends less time on establishing links to the rest of this cinematic universe and more time establishing the character and for what it is, it works really well. Everybody plays their parts well, the story while only loosely based on Gods and Mortals, is very well done. Not many issues with this film and it gives me hope that the DCEU can continue with this much greatness. All they needed was some more colour and some sense of humor and the Rotten Tomatoes rating would be as high as what this film got. 9/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
