Christmas Day Special: TV Special Review - Twice Upon a Time (Doctor Who Christmas Special 2017)

So here we are. Its time for the traditional Doctor Who Christmas Special and its another regeneration one too. Not just that, but we get not one but two Doctors and yes that has been done before. But this time, its an actor who played William Hartnell in the docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time so its not an entirely new actor playing the Doctor but rather an actor who played the actor playing the Doctor. And I'm just going to stop there before you all get confused. But anyway, here we are with Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat's final Doctor Who adventure so let's be merry and hope its a good one:

Many years ago, the First Doctor (played David Bradley aka Filch from Harry Potter) once refused to regenerate and upon landing in the South Pole, he is greeted by the Twelfth (or thirteenth) Doctor (reprised for the last time by Peter Capaldi) who is also refusing to regenerate. As they complement and comment on each other and their respective Tardises, a man from the first world war (played by Mark Gatiss) suddenly appears causing problems in the timeline. Together with their new companion and a not quite with it Bill Potts (reprised by Pearl Mackie), they venture to restore time back to normal while tackling a new threat and deciding their respective destinies.

It is a much better Christmas Special than last year's one which to be honest everyone pretty much was hoping for. Its not as action packed as Matt Smith's last adventure which is fine, but it's a pretty subtle special with not too much going on and everyone getting a chance to shine in the spotlight. We even get a chance to see the old Tardis interior as well which is always nice. So yeah its a nice end to Capaldi's era and let's hope Jodie Whittaker's time is just as good if not better. 9/10
