Random Video Game Review - Owlboy

As someone who was bought up in the 90s, this was a time where platformers were in the golden age and it was also a time where 3D would be introduced to us. So it comes as no surprise that indie developers love making platforming games. Some because they feel nostalgic and others because they want to make art. Today we look at Owlboy, which as its name implies, has you play as a literal owl human hybrid. It had a very long development cycle so let's hope it was worth it. But don't expect this owl to be delivering your acceptance letter to Hogwarts anytime soon (as hopeful as we all are):

Some of you may be all too familiar with the concept of saving a world form evil and that's pretty much what we're getting here. So players control the owl human hybrid named Otus who serves as a member of the owl human hybrid race known simply as the Owls. When his world gets attacked and taken over by pirates, Otus sets out on a journey to reclaim his homeland. Otus is a flyer and is able to carry a number of objects that can be used to fend off his enemies. Over the course of the game, you gain allies who each have their own unique skill that can help Otus in his quest. Pixelated graphics are in this game and they make the game pretty darn beautiful and epic to an extent.

Its a fine game I have to say. Story is a bit harsh and the beginning, but eventually becomes less so as the game progresses. As previously said, the graphics look great and very nostalgic. The gameplay while largely simple, work pretty well. Best played with a controller I think, but its an overall pretty good game which is what indie developers are good at doing in a world where triple A games are suffering with microtransactions and loot crates just to name a few. 9/10
