Random Movie Review - The Angry Birds Movie

2016 was a very bad year. Many people passed away, America got a orange or yellow scrotum for a president and a lot of trouble was brewing here in the UK. It was also supposed to be the year where video game films would finally be good for once. But ultimately in the end, while none of them were perfect, they didn't really do much to have the world believe that they can be as good as the standard of films today. Now previously I have reviewed not all but most of the many Angry Birds games that are out there and it comes as no surprise that such a successful franchise would eventually get itself a film. Its either going to make us feel angry ourselves or make us feel like playing the games all over again. So let's see what shenanigans the birds and pigs are up to:

The film takes place on the fictional Bird Island whose inhabitants are flightless birds. Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis of Horrible Bosses fame) is one of the most hated of birds on the island largely due to his unusually big eyebrows and his anger issues. After a series of problems, Red is sent to anger management class where he meets and ultimately befriends Matilda (voiced by Maya Rudolph), Chuck (voiced by Olaf himself, Josh Gad), Bomb (voiced by Danny McBride of the Point Grey crowd) and Terrence (voiced by Sean Penn). As time goes on, a group of pigs start invading Bird Island with the intention to make a friend out of the birds and introduce them to their innovations. However, Red soon finds out the truth and upon failing to convince the other birds, seeks help from the Mighty Eagle (voiced by Tyrion himself, Peter Dinklage) before taking drastic action to save his home.

The film has got a few things that bother me. Its full of adult jokes which may not be a bad thing, but when you have a reference to The Shining and a bird's privates put into question, do they still make this a kid's film? Then there's the annoying cliche of the hero being the laughing stock of the town to the point where they just don't believe his claims, but soon realise that he was right. Other than that and of course the film making numerous references to the games (and rightly so), its an OK film. Its well animated, full of colour, well acted and at points, its funny. Maybe less on the adult jokes and the cliches and then this film would be better. But it does have the main cast of birds seen in the game even if some of them have less of a big role than the already mentioned culprits. 7/10

Movie Review - Inside Out 2

I guess a sequel to the first makes sense here. I mean, for the most part, this franchise is all about the subject of growing up and with ...
