This time, its a survival horror gaming extravaganza in My Geek Box, the God of War meets the Marvel Norse gods and others in IGN Box and there be Aliens, turtles and a Pokeball in Geek Fuel.
As some of you may have heard, April's Geek Fuel is the last of the original boxes as the Geek Fuel team start a new brand of boxes known as EXP which is more expensive, less frequent but has a whole pile of items that are considered premium such as hoodies, collector items, high end art and more so it should be pretty exciting even if its more expensive and less frequent. But anyway, let's crack on with April's boxes:
My Geek Box
As usual, this month's My Geek Box is random, but this time its got a well balanced set of items. From Ready Player One we have some coasters each featuring a member of the High Five and each having a 3D element to it which is cool. I also got a blind figure bag from the Slasher Monsters series and I got a mini Michael Myers from Halloween. The next set of items don't belong to a particular franchise as such, but do have a connection to something that we nerds enjoy in general. The first of these is the t-shirt which is all about a film poser of Astro Ape and I have no idea if that's a real film or not, but we got a 3D effect going on with 3D glasses to spare. The second of these items and the overall last item in this box is a survival guide for gamers which will no doubt be very handy for those of us who game a lot. So while most of the items you could buy anywhere rather than wait for the box, its as I said a well balanced set of items with two focused on gaming (Ready Player One counts in this scenario as the film and the book are about a VR simulation game called the Oasis) and two focused on films so yeah and well balanced box this time.
IGN Box - Gods and Monsters
So IGN Box this time focuses on a theme that fits well with the release of God of War for PS4 (of which I have previously reviewed) and manages to throw in some other god and monster like franchises in there too. So from God of War we have two items which are a God of War mug and a t-shirt which has Krato's signature weapon the Blades of Chaos and surely both of these items will make you feel like a god. From Marvel or more specifically the Thor side of things, we got a Loki magnet (something of which I got in a previous box some time ago) and some Thor socks which will grant me the power of mischief and thunder when I need it (that by the way, sounds like the dumbest combination ever so I apologise) From Doom we got a keyring of the Cacodemon which to my knowledge is one of the hardest enemies in that game to kill so yeah. And from DragonBall Z, we have a poster of the protagonists all looking like they are over 9000 and all that. In some respects, this box seemed focused more on the god side of things than the monsters. But that's OK as they are good items which once again, can probably be bought anywhere. But they are still good items.
Geek Fuel
So we've come to the final Geek Fuel box of the old era and while the company moves into a new era with these high end EXP boxes, the future looks bright, but I hope they can cope with making these new boxes. So let's start with the Steam game which at $10 in value is Cloudbase Prime and before you ask, it is a game and has nothing to do with being a cloud server utility run by Amazon for Prime users despite the name. From Alien, there are some pin badges of the characters and I got the titular Xenomorph which is very nice indeed. from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I got a pretty unique figure as its one where you can attach it to a cable whether that be a game controller cable, a charging cable or even a plug cable and I got Bebop. In the left box is this month's t-shirt which is Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War with the Infinity Gaunlet with all the stones, making you feel all powerful. And finally in the right box, you get one of three keyrings with two being a iconic spaceship from Star Wars and one being the regular Pokeball from Pokemon and I got the latter which is cool. As the last box, its got some good items in it, but I think it had a big focus on collect them all items this time, but that's OK.
An interesting month with all the boxes being good. IGN box had a theme that upon opening it, it looked as though it was more focused on one thing than the other in that theme. My Geek Box had a good balance of items and the last ever Geek Fuel had a focus on collect them all items. I think because there was some good things about it that this month, the winner is My Geek Box which although has less items than the other box, it does have a good balance and what you get is what everyone else gets (apart from the blind figure of course).
So its too late now to get these boxes as of today, but if you want May's boxes as well as the first Geek Fuel EXP box, click on the links above. And leave a comment below on what your favourite items are and so forth.
